Self-Care Challenge (Day 179): Making Myself a Bouquet

When was the last time you bought yourself flowers?

Last week? Never?

My self-care activity for the day was to make myself a custom bouquet from my own front yard. Right now, several varieties of my hydrangeas are in bloom, as well as a few wildflowers (which are mostly considered weeds but still quite pretty). I also have lots of interesting green accents to choose from, like English ivy, Japanese maple, red huckleberry, azalea, and others.

I must say, the process of gathering the different colors, shapes and textures of flowers was as rewarding as the finished product. It became an art project, something that brought me a sense of peace and calm.

What’s even better is that this self-care activity didn’t cost a cent. Now, a splash of color greets me (and our guests) at the door each day.

Such a simple task; such a beautiful result.
