Self-Care Challenge (Day 179): Making Myself a Bouquet

bouquetWhen was the last time you bought yourself flowers? Last week? Never?

My self-care activity for the day was to make myself a custom bouquet from my own front yard. Right now, several varieties of my hydrangeas are in bloom, as well as a few wildflowers (which I think are mostly considered weeds, but are still quite pretty). I also have lots of interesting green accents to choose from, like English ivy, Japanese maple, red huckleberry, azalea, and several others.

I have to say, the process of gathering the different colors, shapes and textures of flowers was as rewarding as the finished product. It became yet another art project, something that brings me a sense of peace and calm.

What’s even better is that this self-care activity didn’t cost a cent. Now, a splash of color greets me (and our guests) at the door each day.

Such a simple task; such a beautiful result.
