On day 208 of my 366-day self-care challenge, I explored some new recipes.
I love trying new recipes, and after organizing a recipe swap over the weekend I was particularly excited to try out some new things. So, as my self-care activity for the day, that’s exactly what I did.
What was on the menu? Grilled Caribbean Jerk Chicken with a Wild Rice Medley and Kale-Grapefruit Salad. (This one will definitely be repeated!)
Frequently, I create menus simply by piecing together photographs of foods or food combinations that grab my attention. Sometimes I follow recipes; sometimes I don’t. It all depends on my mood. Pinterest, AllRecipes.com, and a number of random food blogs serve as wonderful sources of inspiration when it comes to menu planning.
But if the idea of trying new recipes sounds daunting, limit your experiments to just one each week (or even once a month). It’s tempting to stick with the tried and true, but it can be really fun to try new things every once in a while.
