Self-Care Challenge (Day 222): Taking a Moment

Have you ever just needed a moment?

A moment to breathe. A moment to prepare for the next thing. A moment to shift from one frame of mind to another?

After spending a lovely weekend vacationing with friends, we awoke to the sunrise and began gathering up our things to prepare for our return home–a return to our normal routines and responsibilities.

And I took a moment.

I walked outside on the deck and took a deep breath while the sun warmed me.

In that moment, I felt a sense of gratitude for being able to take short trips like this one. For having friends who invite us to share in their celebrations. For being fortunate enough to have friends who live in different parts of the country, allowing us to explore new landscapes. And for being healthy enough to do fun things.

Taking a moment to pause and be present doesn’t require anything more than a sense of awareness and willingness.

How do you take a moment?
