Self-Care Challenge (Day 193): Attending a Virtual Retreat

On day 193 of my 366-day self-care challenge, I attended a virtual retreat.

I’ve attended plenty of webinars and virtual workshops over the years, but never one labeled as a virtual retreat. That changed the moment I ran across the description for Mara Glatzel’s Glitter & Devotion retreat, and I knew I had to carve out some time to attend.

This was my self-care practice for the day.

And it was exactly what I hoped it would be: An excuse to take some time to breathe, reflect, be honest with myself about how I’ve been spending my time, and to create a few new intentions–which also required me to revise a few of my goals.

The fact that it was virtual, that I didn’t have to leave my pajamas and my warm cup of coffee behind to battle traffic, made the experience even better.

The retreat offered a balanced blend of celebrating, sharing, listening and journaling, and Mara gently encouraged us to evaluate our vision. Was it still what we really, really, really wanted? After all, sometimes letting go is what we need the most.

It was a fantastic, uplifting way to welcome the new week. I felt recharged and more determined than ever to welcome my vision into my reality. Needless to say, I slept well last night.

When we take proper care of ourselves – whether it’s getting enough sleep, eating well or taking time to reflect on our goals–it can make us feel more empowered. Personally, I’m more confident. I’m more accepting and forgiving of myself and others. And I’m even more willing to take risks–because I have more of myself to give.
