On day 219 of my 366-day self-care challenge, I stopped for stretch breaks while traveling.
Making stops while traveling, a topic of controversy in many families, was my self-care exercise for the day.
Instead of pushing through to our destination (like we have many times in the past), we stopped periodically to get gas, use the restroom, and stretch.
Taking intermittent breaks makes travel much easier both physically and emotionally, and drinking adequate fluids is easier when you know you’ll be stopping soon.
When traveling with pets or small children, frequent stopping is a no-brainer, but we often neglect to show ourselves the same kindness.
